Direct cremation is a simple, dignified process in which your loved one is transferred directly into our care and cremated without a formal viewing or funeral service beforehand. It is the most affordable option and allows families to hold a memorial at a time and place of their choosing.
Most cremations are completed within 5–6 business days. Timing can vary depending on how quickly the required paperwork, medical certification, and necessary authorizations are completed. Throughout the process, you can follow important updates through our Care Tracker, and we'll let you know as soon as your loved one's ashes are ready.
Yes. We will obtain certified copies of the death certificate on your behalf. During the arrangement process, we'll also help you determine how many long-form and short-form copies you may need based on your family's circumstances.
Yes. If you are unable to pick up your loved one's ashes from our crematory, we can arrange to have them securely shipped directly to you. Cremated remains are required to be shipped through the United States Postal Service using Priority Mail Express. They are carefully packaged in accordance with USPS requirements, and tracking is provided throughout the shipment.
Absolutely. Direct cremation and a meaningful memorial are not mutually exclusive. Many families choose to hold a private gathering, a celebration of life, or a scattering ceremony after receiving the ashes. We are happy to help you think through what feels right for your family.
The cremated remains are placed in a basic plastic urn (or an upgraded urn of your choice) and returned to you. You may arrange for pickup at our location or coordinate delivery. Common choices include keeping the urn at home, interment, or a meaningful scattering.
No. For direct cremation, Florida law does not require a casket. Our package includes a minimum alternative cremation container (fiberboard), which is dignified and respectful. Caskets are only necessary if a viewing or graveside burial is requested.
You can call us at any time — we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — or submit our online contact form and we will reach out to you promptly. We will walk you through every step gently and at your own pace.
Direct cremation is significantly more affordable than a traditional funeral with burial. At Good Earth Crematory, we offer transparent, flat-rate pricing with no hidden fees. Visit our Packages page for current pricing. Costs vary based on the services selected, but direct cremation is the most affordable option available.
No. We believe in complete pricing transparency. The price we quote you is the price you pay. There are no surprise charges or upsells. All costs are clearly outlined before any arrangements are made.
If the death was expected — for example, under hospice care — contact the hospice provider first. They will notify the appropriate authorities. If the death was unexpected, call 911. Once the proper authorities have been notified, call us at (941) 748-7756. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and will guide you through every next step.
We work promptly. Once we are notified and all necessary authorizations are in place, we typically complete the transfer within a few hours. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays.
Florida law establishes a priority order for who may authorize cremation. Generally, the legal next of kin has authority — this includes a surviving spouse first, then adult children, parents, adult siblings, and so on in order of priority. We will help clarify the authorization requirements during the arrangement process.
Yes, and we strongly encourage it. Pre-planning allows you to document your wishes, spare your family from having to make difficult decisions during a stressful time, and potentially lock in today's pricing. Contact us to learn about our pre-arrangement options.
Absolutely. You are welcome to provide your own urn. The cremated remains will be placed in a basic container until pickup, and can be transferred into your urn at that time. If you do not have an urn, we offer several options at our facility.
Cremation is accepted by most major religions and denominations, including Protestant Christianity, many Jewish denominations, Hinduism, Buddhism, and others. The Catholic Church permits cremation, provided the ashes are treated with respect and not scattered. We are sensitive to every family's religious and cultural traditions and happy to discuss any specific considerations.
Yes. Florida law requires a minimum 48-hour waiting period after death before cremation can take place. This period allows time for proper documentation, medical examiner review if applicable, and family authorization to be completed.
We can assist with out-of-state transfers. If your loved one passes away elsewhere and you would like them cremated here in Florida, we will coordinate with the funeral home or crematory in that state to arrange transport. Contact us and we will walk you through the process.
